Sure, you can still go to the beach, but it should be a reward you give yourself after a concentrated period of constructive work.

2. Study Hard

Yes, you did hear me right, that is, unless you recently graduated with a degree in e-business. Most people I know who are working online are self-taught. So study up. Allocate some hours every week to research what other online business people are doing.

Examine what they are selling. Discover which products they are referring. Check out if there are any new techniques being used successfully. Participate in webmaster forums. Read the the latest affiliate news and rumors. Check out a few ebooks on topics related to your own.

3. Perseverance Pays Off

Perseverance is almost always rewarded online. Sometimes you will try something new and it will fail. But do not give up. Retreat. Regroup. And then come back and try again with a different approach.

Sometimes you only need to tweak your strategy a little bit or make a minor alteration to get it to work. Remember it can take less effort to adjust a plan which is already close to working than to come up with an entirely different strategy.

Whether or not you go with a new idea or a slight variation, the important thing is that you keep persevering. I assure you if you do that, the rewards will follow.

4. Invest Wisely

Don’t be afraid to invest in your online business. But be sure that you always invest carefully. You should purchase only those books, software or other resources that will genuinely help you to understand your business better or to complete your online work more efficiently.

Don’t believe everything you read. Before you buy any product online check out some online business forums to check out some unbiased feedback. Most good webmaster forums do not allow affiliate links in the forum posts so the feedback tends to be more honest than some other sources.

Belief

That's why people fail. They just don't believe that they can have success. Perhaps someday almost all people will come to the realization that MLM works, and that it can work for them. That someday will happen for you if you can truly understand and believe.

Belief #1 - You must believe in your MLM company

When you get started in MLM you probably believe in the MLM concept, it just makes sense, but a lot of people join an MLM company they will never believe in. You leave this exciting meeting and you've met people just like you who are changing their lives and it's easy to get excited. But, when that excitement wears off, do you really believe in the company you just joined?

If you don't believe in the company, you'll never talk to anybody about it, and when asked what happened to your new business you will say something like "I tried that and it didn't work".

Build belief in your MLM company by asking questions, going to meetings, talking with successful people and putting yourself in a supportive environment. Read all the literature and participate in the webinars and conference calls, immerse yourself in this new world. If you don't believe in your MLM company you have no shot at success!

Belief #2 - You must believe in your MLM company's products or services

You must be a product of the product. You've probably heard it before, but have you done it consistently? Do you know your products or services backwards and forwards because you've used them? Would you sell them to your mother or best friend?

Belief #3 - You must believe in MLM

This is where almost everyone struggles mightily. I'd like to believe in MLM, but all I've ever done is fail. Take it from a former MLM loser, anybody with desire and time can be successful in MLM.

Study the industry, talk to people who are living lives on their terms and you will begin to believe. Get as close as you possibly can to successful multi level marketers and ask them what has helped them become successful.

We've got friends who didn't believe in MLM until we took a 7 week vacation! Hearing about success is one thing, knowing somebody who has taken a 7 week vacation is a whole different ballgame.

Belief #4 - You must believe in yourself

Even if you totally believe in your MLM company and your company's products and believe in the MLM industry, none of that matters if you don't believe that you can become successful. Most of us carry a lot of baggage with us all of our lives.

The failures in our past do not have to predict our future, but all too often we let those failures trap us into thinking that we cannot escape. We believe that we cannot escape poverty, even though we can.

A very good friend of ours grew up in the projects on the south side of Chicago. His mother believed that she could find a better life for her children, so she moved her family, and in the process dramatically altered the lives of generations. Her children and grandchildren are different because of her sacrifice.

They are different because she believed!

We met her son and shared our belief that MLM could change his life and the lives of his children. Today our friend earns 6 figures in our MLM company, a fact that we are both thankful for.

While the Direct Selling Industry has had phenomenal growth in the past half of dozen decades, network marketers continue to struggle to achieve their desired goals and dreams. Not because the direct selling business model or a multi-level compensation plan doesn't work. The truth is they do work but most network marketers don't do the work they need to do to get their job done.


I have been on both sides of the fence. I use to struggle to sponsor and recruit, in fact, I had no clue how to succeed. Now I want you to know I was not stupid (as I graduated #14 out of 314 students in my high school senior class. I also graduated with honors in my business management class.


The reason for my failure was I was good at procrastinating and keeping busy rather than being good at applying the universal fundamentals that guarantee success. The biggest mistake I made was I was building a busynest rather than a business. To build a business requires real action, the action that puts you consistently in front of your prospects and customers.


The great news is I went from 6 figures in debt and struggling to make ends meet in my life and business, to becoming debt free and earning a 6 figure income through a direct selling network marketing type business. I even became a heavy hitter recruiter by recruiting 10+ people a month for 73 consecutive months (that was over 800+ people I personally sponsored).


The way I did it was I figured out and applied universal strategies and techniques that guarantee success. It was not about getting 3 and I was free, nor was it about getting others to build the business for me. The truth is I applied simple proven-to-work strategies and techniques that helped me work smarter rather than harder. I applied these things consistently and worked from a plan.


I built my business by design rather than chance. One lesson I learned early on was that people will watch what you do and what you don't do. They watch even if they don't let you know they are watching. This led me to understand that I need to lead by example and with action. Plus I need to go the extra mile, meaning doing the extra little things that catapult growth and nurtures relationships with both my customers and downline.


One of the biggest mistakes network marketers make is they fail to learn, understand, and apply consistently the universal fundamentals of network marketing success. Forget about the magical formula or secret automated tool. Go back to the basics and master those basics.


Mastering the basics will begin with getting certified in the fundamentals of direct selling. As a network marketing professional, before you can run a multi-million dollar residual based direct selling (network marketing) distributorship business, you need to learn to crawl and walk (this requires the understanding and effective application of universal fundamentals).


If you want an edge, a real competitive edge, you need to be professionally certified. While certification is not required in this industry, to survive in this economic environment, certification is a necessity. Make a commitment to yourself, your business, and this great industry and become professionally certified.


In just one day, you can learn, understand, and even begin to apply the universal fundamentals that guarantee network marketing success. You will enhance your competency, improve your credibility, and even increase your cash flow in your business.


The one thing most network marketers will tell you that is wrong is that you do not need to sell. The real truth is network marketing is a method of marketing within the direct selling industry. To succeed in network marketing, you do have to sell. Don't believe me? Just look at your upline leaders and the heavy effort they do in selling you on the idea you don't have to sell.


I believe if you don't like to sell, you can learn. However, if you are unwilling to learn, you NEED to get out of the business and go do something else. The real secret to network marketing success Is not in recruit others who tear up the town recruiting others. The secret to success is in acquiring new customers and keeping those customers coming back (retention) for more, month after month after month. Then, recruit others to your team that will do the same. If anyone tells you different, they are lying to you (or they don't really know how to build a network marketing business that will grow exponentially in sustainable profits).


I encourage you and challenge you to put what I teach you to the test. You already know that it is difficult to chase people and build a large duplicating downline. In fact, the majority of those reading this article are frustrated and want a much better result in their business. Even if they are leaders with large organizations, they are frustrated with the high attrition and the lack of real action from their team. They won't tell you this and will try to make you think they are doing great, but deep down, they know what I am saying is absolute truth and they want a much better result from their people.


My best advice is that you learn to get new customers and consistently get new customers each and every month. Then recruit others who do the same. But don't stop getting customers yourself; instead, continue to build that customer base.


The secret to recruiting comes from the consistency of action, action comes from belief and confidence in what you do. If you can't effectively sell your product or service, how can you ever lead a team of people to sell your products or service? And if no one is selling anything, how in the world will you make any money? The sad fact is when you consciously decide to just focus on recruiting; you are doing yourself and this industry a disservice.

Customers are what makes this industry strive with growth and it is where your income comes from.


Now don't misunderstand me here. You still need to build a downline team. However, you must first master the task of getting customers. Once you do this, you have greater confidence and a true belief that your product is something people need and will buy. You will have a real life example of how to create instant cash flow in a business (which is what most people want but don't achieve).

     In the previous two articles we talked about keys to success on a personal level. Ideas we can adopt internally to lead us to success, such as the need to change, the need to take action. Both are critical attitudes without which we will never succeed. If we are unwilling to change the things we are doing wrong, how do we expect to succeed? If we never take action, how do we expect to ever succeed? The next attitude I would like to discuss is the attitude of believing in yourself.  I believe this is the most important attitude we need to adopt.

     We are living in probably the most opportune time in our lifetimes to develop a profitable online in-home business. People all over the world are looking for opportunities to improve their lives. We are living in a globally connected world because of the internet. People are looking for a legitimate, proven opportunity. But I believe just as importantly, they are looking for someone who is a leader that they can follow. Someone who is honest, with integrity and forthrightness, that which will lead them. Let me ask a question. Are you that kind of person? To develop a global million dollar business you will need people under you in your business. That’s the kind of person people want to follow.

     Are any of us just automatically born that way? No. I believe leaders are developed. Leaders are just willing to change. They are willing to take action. And they are willing to believe that they can. They choose to believe that they can change. They choose to believe in themselves. It’s easy to just say, I can never do it. It’s easy to say, I’ll never change, or I’ll never be rich, etc. etc. etc. That’s what the majority of people think and say. That’s why the majority of people in America are not in life where they want to be. It all starts in our thoughts. If you think you can, you’re right. If you think you can’t, you’re right! Successful people think differently than the average person does. First, they believe they can accomplish their goals, and they don’t stop until they do. Do they fail? Absolutely they do! They just don’t quit. And they don’t stop believing in themselves. Truly successful leaders also learn from their mistakes. They don’t see mistakes and failing as being a failure! That’s why leaders are developed. It’s a process. It doesn’t happen overnight.

     You need to believe you are a leader before you ever are. You need to see yourself as a leader before you ever are. It all starts with desire. Do you really want to be financially free? Do you really want to have a large organization that reaches all over the world? Do you really want people to look at you and see a true leader? If so, then you need to see yourself as that first, before it ever comes to pass. If you don’t believe in yourself first, no one else is going to believe in you either. Do you want that type of life, that type of recognition bad enough to change? If you do, then you’re in the right place at the right time.

     I know what you’re thinking, how do I start? None of us are born world class leaders. Most of us never had parents who truly built up our self worth. Nor did our parents teach us to be leaders. So, how did all these successful leaders become this way? The three most important things you can do are: first, read. Read quality, self help books. There are hundreds out there. Leaders are readers! Most people fill their minds with garbage. Hence; the saying, garbage in, garbage out. Read books that will help you become a better person. Most people don’t like to read. Here is an area that you need to be willing to change. Second, find a mentor. Successful leaders are willing to mentor others. They are excited and happy to pass on what they know. There is an old saying: When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. Find a successful online business that has a good support system. There are a few that have a tremendous support system and are willing to mentor you. You need people around you who are willing to speak positively into your life. If people are speaking negatively around you, RUN. Don’t listen to it. Third, speak positively to yourself. I know it sounds stupid, but it’s one of the most important things you can do. Speak positive things out loud to yourself. When your ears hear these things enough, your mind will start to believe what it hears. Write down on paper things you want to change in your life and read them out loud to yourself several times a day. If you do this consistently every day, belief will build in your mind. When you add belief with the willingness to change and taking steps of action, things will start to truly change for the good in your life.

     There truly is so much room at the top for real leaders. There is room for you! Choose to change. Choose to take action. Choose to believe in yourself. The world is searching for another leader. Take action today!
